Disabled Students’ Allowances
Good news — most UK students are eligible to claim the Disabled Students Allowance (DSA), a government grant that covers extra support like equipment, travel expenses, and learning mentors.
- You can apply for DSA right now, even if you haven’t yet decided where you’re going to study.
- Keep in mind that setting up DSA can take between 12 and 14 weeks. That’s why we recommend applying for it as soon as possible.
- Our dedicated DSA pages have all the information you need to get started, including step-by-step instructions on how to apply and access this extra funding.
Our team is here to support you every step of the way. We can help you gather the evidence you need and guide you through the application process. Email us on disability@leeds.ac.uk to arrange a 1:1 if you would like any assistance.
Other sources of funding
If you are not eligible for DSA, don’t worry — there may be alternative sources of funding for you. Visit our website to find out about additional funding you could access if you are:
- A UK student
- An international student
- A postgraduate researcher
- A degree apprentice
- NHS funded student
Disability Services is on hand to give you guidance on additional funding and advise on what you could access. Please contact us to arrange a 1:1 if you have any queries.
