Who are Disability Services?
Welcome to Disability Services! We are here to identify reasonable adjustments for disabled students. This means making changes to the way you learn, are taught, and assessed.
We do this by working closely with your academic School, recommending adjustments so you can fully access your studies.
We also offer personalised advice to you on academic support, assistive technology, and external funding opportunities such as Disabled Students’ Allowance.
We’re here for you from your first application to study, right throughout your time at Leeds. We can answer any questions about disability support, even if your place at Leeds hasn’t yet been confirmed.
Am I disabled?
“Disability” is a very broad term. It encompasses a range of physical, mental, neurological and chronic conditions. This means we support a large number of students at Leeds.
In law, a person has a disability if their condition has a substantial and long term effect on their daily activities.
At university, these activities can include reading, writing, studying, moving around, and dealing with campus life.
If you would benefit from academic support for these activities, Disability Services can help.
